GTCTA Awards Scholarships to 29 Junior Tennis Players

Twenty-nine Junior Athletes Awarded Tennis Scholarships The Greater Twin Cities Tennis Association (GTCTA) recently awarded 29 junior tennis players from the seven county metropolitan area with the GTCTA Indoor Program Scholarship. The GTCTA provides scholarships for youth age 10 through 17 so they may transition from a seasonal player to play year round. The scholarships are based upon coach's recommendation and recipients must be students in good standing. Since 2003, over 100 juniors have been awarded funding totaling $44, 500.00. The scholarship awardees for 2007 are: Anoka County: Amy Johnson; Dakota County: Sebastian Beerman, Michelle Boateng, John Paul Pinero, Bridget Doyle, Kasey Knoll, Haley Sadowski; Hennepin County: Katie Elifson, Luke Elifson, Rae Millikan, Nick Ribar, Sam Klein, Cindy Zhang; Ramsey County: Thoa Phet, David Hoang, Kyle Kapaun, Ke Rithseiha, Tacy Lay, Tou Le, Asha Tao, Leng Vang, Kong Vu; Scott County: Eric Hammerschmidt, Justin Hammerschmidt, Ermi Asfaw ; Washington County: Dillon Anderson, Austin Kringle, Isaac Youngquist. The GTCTA is a 501(c)(3) public charity serving the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington. The mission of the GTCTA is to foster opportunities so all people in the seven county metropolitan areas may enjoy tennis as a lifetime sport. The GTCTA also coordinates Recreational Coach Workshops for grassroots tennis instructors and administers the Twin Cities World TeamTennis League every summer.
