Juniors Awarded Scholarships - Dec 15, 2006

The Greater Twin Cities Tennis Association (GTCTA) recently awarded 29 junior tennis players from the seven county metropolitan area with the GTCTA Indoor Program Scholarship. The GTCTA provides scholarships for youth age 10 through 17 so they may transition from a seasonal player to play year round. The scholarships are based upon coach's recommendation, financial need and recipients must be students in good standing. Since 2003, 71 juniors have been awarded funding totaling $33,450 with the scholarship. The scholarship awardees for 2006 are: Anoka County: Erik Jones, Amy Johnson; Dakota County: Bridget Doyle, Emily Doyle, Melissa Doyle, John Conway, Haley Sadowski, Alexander Voysey, Nitooli Wilkins; Hennepin County: Buppi Curley, Ravi Curley, Katie Elifson, Frankilin Axel, Rena Littleton, Forest Oliver; Ramsey County:Suk Her, Tacy Lay, Tou Lee, Abigail Sullivan, Xa Vang, Kong Vu, Xiong Yang; Scott County: Eric Hammerschmidt, Justin Hammerschmidt; Washington County: Kelsey Johnson, Lizabeth Doherty, Austin Kringle, Isaac Youngquist. The GTCTA is a 501(c) 3 public charity serving the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington. The mission of the GTCTA is to foster opportunities so all people in the seven county metropolitan areas may enjoy tennis as a lifetime sport.
