What Is This?
A team competition for players at least 19 years of age during the playing year, who have completed beginner lessons and are ready for some fun tennis play. The objective is to move players into a starter competition. Local outdoor courts will be used for home and away matches.
The 2006 league starts the week of June 19th, toward the end of beginner lessons, and ends the week of August 7th. A championship event will take place during the week-end of August 19th-20th, 2006.
Who Will Play?
NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) 1.5 & 2.0 describe this beginner or advanced beginner player. Each park and recreation department or tennis club will form 1 or more teams, depending on the number of registrants. The cost to players will be less than $10 per match and players will continue to receive tips and instructions during competition.
What is the Format of Play?
The format is 3 matches: 2 singles and 1 doubles. These matches are non-gender specific and coaching is allowed during play. The top 4 teams will advance to the championship tournament.
